Antique Automobile Club „Klasika“ season opening party

Although outside the windows still occasionally chill nips, Antique Automobile Club „Klasika” members and friends, as if to confirm a folk proverb – „prepare wheels in winter, sledges in summer”, richly gathered to Club season 2013 opening. It was held in the Kupiškis district farmstead owned by a club member Gediminas Aleksandravičius.
The banquet was begun by „Klasika” director Egidijus Einoris who congratulated the club members Virginijus Kučinskas and Jonas Lapinskas on celebrating birthdays. On the behalf of the club, he thanked and awarded one of the club’s supporters, that a week before celebrated the 15th anniversary, an ethnographic ensemble „Siaudela” founder and its leader Jūrate Garnelienė. Also, the hospitable homestead owner Gediminas Aleksandravičius received sincere words of thanks. Marius Gasparėnas was incorporated as a new club member. Later, the club director reminded to everyone in attendance that this year is not ordinary to the Club „Klasika”; the club will become 5 years old on 16 of August. Therefore, it was recalled „Klasika” founding story, watched documentary footage, shared joys and loss, honored one of the first „Klasika” exhibitions’ participant Eugenijus Malinauskas.
I am glad that „Klasika” can be proud of not only rare and exclusive machinery, but also its club members. It is nice to be friends with a collector; Panevezys district Honorary Citizen Klementas Sakalauskas, share victories with a multiple winner and prizeman of Lithuanian Motocross Championships Justas Kantaravičius, look for the rare historical artifacts with collectors Dalius Linkevičius and Gediminas Aleksandravičius, find „Eldorado” together with Virginijus Kučinskas, finally, look through Dainius Nagele camera’s objective-lens prism to the “Klasika” yearbook…
It happened so that shows and parades of the antique automobile club „Klasika” have become an integral part of Biržai city celebrations. So, this year, the club’s five-year anniversary we will celebrate on the 3rd of August, along with our fellow-countrymen and city guests. Since, the main celebrations will be held in Biržai AirClub, an exhibition of “Klasika” antique automobiles will be a part of Biržai city and 45th anniversary of Airclub celebration program.
When a Club Director was ready to tell us about the meeting of managers of Lithuanian historical auto-moto technical clubs, held on 16 March in Kaunas, there was a phone call. Antique Automobile Club president Gitautas Žičkus welcomed „Klasika” members, wished success and was very sorry not to be able to participate in our club’s Conference. Later, the famous antique technical enthusiast Eugenijus Malinauskas made a speech and shook hands the club members. The official part of the banquet ended with the discussion of club current affairs and friendly chat to Biržai beer pitcher. The revels did not finish with the table-talks. A part of our fellows chose the pleasures of the bathhouse, others shed sweat on the dance floor, and the third was not giving away the bathing tub. Entertainment continued for prolonged period of time. The rush was not where. In addition, the prepared bedrooms were waiting for us. There was enough space for everyone.In the morning, some of the club members said goodbye to the hospitable host and the “Dvi sesutės” homestead. Those who hung back got to look around the picturesque homestead surroundings, to enjoy the museum exhibits, to discover something new. Homestead owner Gediminas showed the antique farm utensils, furniture and other rare museum artifacts. We detected a picture of armored car K.A.M.9 which is little known from Lithuanian army interwar period. Certainly, we were excited and happy. So, we had a great time, thanked a hospitable host and left for home. There are some pictures we suggest looking round our banquet and visiting the events of our club in summer.
