Saying goodbye to 2010…

Monday, December 13th, 2010

It became a tradition to publicly glance over the yearly activities of club “Klasika” at the end of each year, share the plans, concerns and routines. We can happily announce that our events are growing numerically and expanding geographically. Thus, we started the season of 2010 on May 1st in Pasvalys where we participated at the antique vehicles exhibition “Vaziuojam 2010.” We shared our experiences with a large amount of other clubs of historical technology, interacted with other like-minded people, showed our machinery and invited everyone to visit us in Birzai.

A week later, on May 8th, our club’s cars were brought to Vabalninkas where we participated at the opening of international kids and youth theatre festival “The Happy Laughter Of Children.”

On Saturday, October 9th, the members of antique vehicles klub “Klasika” were by invited a couple of Klasika friends to visit Nemakščiai town near Raseiniai. Klasika members were left amazed. Truth be said, it is very hard to understand why people dream about such places as Turkey or Greece, while they don’t even realize what beauty is in plain sight just around the corner.
Now, we have a good friend in Nemakščiai – Leonas Tamulevičius, who is lightly crazed for antique vehicles, the history, the culture and Lithuania. He showed us the beautiful scenery including the beautiful Molavenai hills, which captures your breath because of it’s size, human work and a rich history. Leonas Tamulevičius also showed a recently built modern Nemakščiai church. Skaityti daugiau... / More...

Impressions from Rokiškis

Monday, September 27th, 2010

DSCI0035.JPGOn a wonderful and warm Saturday morning, our club cars gathered once again to see some of the last sunny days in autumn. For the second time we visited Rokiškis festival and we can only rejoice that the last trip of the year together with our cars has been accompanied by good weather and the club’s squad of friends. For a good and friendly atmosphere we would like to thank the festival organizers, the bikers and all those who have joined us, or supported us. We say a lot of thanks to the people who gave us a nice place for the night. We hope that the trip to Rokiškis will become our tradition.

The Astravas Palace

Once again, there came a day when Birzai was brought back to a postwar time. This was a beautiful day of August 7th, 2010. The town was overpopulated with classic automobile lovers who lined up to show the extraordinary cars. This beautiful day was brought in part by the classic automobile club “Klasika”, whom attracted colleagues from many of Lithuanians towns and villages. It is amazing that we received guests from “Dzukija” classic automobile club, Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, and the surrounding towns around Birzai.

The participants gathered into a pack of cars from “Baltic Petroleum” gas station and headed towards Astravas Palace. The parade consisted of 53 historical transportation vehicles, of which, 11 were motorcycles, 2 tractors, 5 trucks, and 35 cars. Participants came by the Astravas Palace and rounded up their cars for the exhibition, while the viewers and the participants could be astonished by the beauty of the architecture of the palace, which once belonged to Count Jonas Tiskevicius. Participants and the viewers were amazed by the park in Astravas Palace and the palace itself because of its astounding tower. Later the guide introduced all participants to the history of Birzai and showed the beautiful man-made lake which happens to be the oldest man-made lake in Lithuania and was made in the year 1575 by rerouting Apascia and Agluona rivers.
