Category:Events,Events 2017

On July 8, the Antique Vehicle Club “Klasika” demonstrated its historical technique at the festival of Joniškis. “Just retro” – the image of this year’s Joniškis festival was fulfilled by the club “Klasika” in the direct sense of the word. Though the “Klasika” members drove to this city’s birthday only thirteen historic vehicle columns: ten cars, one motorcycle, one fire truck and one bus, but it was fully suited for the play of automotive history and development.
The beginning of the twentieth century was represented by Dalius Linkevičius’ Oldsmobile, produced in 1929. Arūnas Adomaitis’ BMW 327 Cabrio, made in 1939, represented the best European cars in the interwar period. And they were not submitted by Cadillac Series 62-42 produced by the US during the 2nd World War and Wehrmacht fire truck Mercedes Benz. The American golden age of automobiles was presented by the 1964 Mercury Comet Convertible, the 1980s GMC bus and the luxury embodiment Cadillac Eldorado, made in 1978. Two Mercedes Benz represented the cars of 6-7 decades in Western Germany. The fans of the Soviet technique did not suffer too much. For their attention, the club “Klasika” presented two GAZ 21 Volga, Moskvich 427 and VAZ 2103 (Lada).
In the morning, starting the show on townspeople’s parade and driving honorable citizens, “Klasika” cars stayed for the exhibition in the center of Joniškis. There were a lot of visitors and everyone here could find a retro car for himself. There were enough curious people! They were interested in car history, photographed, listened to the information provided by the “Klasika” rapporteur. Perhaps the most popular in the exhibition was BMW Motorcycle. Apparently, for the fact that somebody succeeded not only to sit on it, but also to weave into its sidecar (crib).
The exhibition of ancient machinery had lasted until 13:00. After saying goodbye to hospitable Joniškis citizens and guests, “Klasika” members drove home. For the invitation and hospitality Club “Klasika” is sincerely grateful to Joniškis Culture Center and Jūratė Buivydienė! Bye-bye!
