The Festival of Ukmerge City – „I Love Ukmerge 2012!”
Category:Events,Events 2012,ArticlesOn an early and rainy morning of June 2, 2012, members of the Antique Automobile Club „Klasika”, accompanied by friends and associates from Biržai, set off on a long journey. This time the gray trail led us to Ukmerge, which celebrated 220th anniversary since the city was returned the rights of Magdeburg. Ukmergė is one of the oldest towns in Lithuania. In written sources, the town was first mentioned in 1333, which is the official date of its foundation. In Vartbergė Chronicle it is mentioned that in the year, Master of the Livonian Order „was by Vilkenbergė „(i.e. Ukmergė). At that time he attacked the Ukmergė Castle, which was later repeatedly attacked and devastated by the Teutonic Order. Legends, interwoven with historical facts, mention the old name of Ukmergė – Vilkmergė.

„Mes važiuojame 2012!” („We Drive 2012!”) – In Pasvalys
Category:Events,Events 2012,ArticlesOften, when seeing an antique car passing by, we stop and turn back to look at it. Some of us marvel at it, some go back into remembrances of the past, others just are pleased to see it. However, it is rarely that people know how much patience and effort, not even speaking about time and money, it is required so that those old and rusty antique cars could be brought back to life. Not everyone understands that some people can talk longest hours sharing their impressions from past shows, parades and antique car festivals. You might think of such people as „fanatics”. Perhaps they are. However, antique cars, especially antique vehicle parades bring joy to everyone.

The first ever long distance road trip in an auto was made by a woman!
Category:Garage,Library,ArticlesThe first-ever, constructed in 1885 Charles Benz, the German inventor. On January, 29th, 1886 he took out the patent for the car, and on July, 3rd, 1886 on Ringshtrasse in Mannheim for the first time showed the car to general public. Benz’s car had three bicycle wheels. On the car the one-cylinder internal combustion engine by a working volume of 954 cm³ has been established. Real capacity of this car — 0,9 h.p. at 400 turns in a minute though in the patent for the invention 2/3 horse powers are specified at 250 turns. This engine had considerable weight (about 100 kg). Maximum speed is 13 kilometers per hour. The car has been patented on November 2, 1886 (patent No. DRP 37435), passed tests for roads, and in 1887 participated in the Parisian exhibition. Since 1888 Benz’s cars have been exposed on sale, but buyers were not.

From „Klasika” history…

Where and when were they founded? What circumstances determined the founding of these clubs in Lithuania? In this article, I will try to fill in the gaps and tell the story of the founding of antique car club „Klasika” in the city of Biržai. I will tell who the godfather of the club was, and how the name of the club was selected.

Seeing off the Old Year… Happy New Year!
Category:Events,Events 2011,ArticlesThe Antique Vehicle Club „Klasika” began its season on May 28, 2011. The Club accepted an invitation to take part in a land-rover marathon „4×4 Perimeter” festival which took place in Pačeriaukštė Village (Biržai District). Members of the Club exhibited their vehicles in the sports field of P. Poškus High School. Historic vehicles were admired by a large number of spectators and marathon participants.
Our Club’s next events were shows in Širvintos and Kernavė. Last year, our friends in Širvintos offered us to arrange an exhibit in Kernavė. After a short deliberation, we accepted the invitation. We called our event „With ,Klasika’ – to Kernavė!“

A Partnership and Sponsoring Agreement Signed
Category:Events 2011,Library,ArticlesIt’s been four years since the antique car club “Klasika” has existed, all thanks to its good-willed sponsors. The club’s events and actions are planned and evaluated keeping the funders’ support and generosity in mind. It’s nice that the sponsors’ help is expanding as well as their quantity. This means that the antique car shows in Lithuania will be even grander and more beautiful, that more than one historically valuable object will have a new life. It’s wonderful that the club “Klasika” is recognized beyond Lithuania. It was pleasant to receive an unexpected and heartfelt partnership offer that came all the way from across the Atlantic.

On October 22nd, the “Grand Dukes Restaurant and Deli” president Andrius Bučas and the Antique Car Club “Klasika” director Egidijus Einoris heartily shook hands, having made the deal of partnership and the sponsoring of “Klasika”.

Labakie brauc!
Category:Events 2011,Articles„Labakie brauc! The best are driving!“ – with this slogan we were greeted at our first event this year in Latvia, where Klasika‘s antique cars were shown. On a Saturday morning, May 14th, in a five-car column we traveled towards the border of Latvia and went straight to Salaspilis, where we were warmly welcomed. Although we came earlier than planned, the time passed very quickly: an orchestra was playing, „Old Cars Club“ treated us with coffee and snacks. Even the very first awards took place during the exhibition. Later, just like during a rally, we moved towards Bauske in the interval of a minute. We also received an interesting mission – during our trip we calculated street signs and orientated on the road. Half way to the destination, participants had a task to drive on a ramp in a VAZ 2102. We did pitty the Lada, which was driven by everyone and suffered a lot, however the task itself was a great challenge even for the most experienced drivers.

Saying goodbye to 2010…
Category:Events,Events 2010,ArticlesIt became a tradition to publicly glance over the yearly activities of club “Klasika” at the end of each year, share the plans, concerns and routines. We can happily announce that our events are growing numerically and expanding geographically. Thus, we started the season of 2010 on May 1st in Pasvalys where we participated at the antique vehicles exhibition “Vaziuojam 2010.” We shared our experiences with a large amount of other clubs of historical technology, interacted with other like-minded people, showed our machinery and invited everyone to visit us in Birzai.
A week later, on May 8th, our club’s cars were brought to Vabalninkas where we participated at the opening of international kids and youth theatre festival “The Happy Laughter Of Children.”

Eight wheel carriage association in Nemakščiai
Category:Events,Events 2010,ArticlesOn Saturday, October 9th, the members of antique vehicles klub „Klasika” were by invited a couple of Klasika friends to visit Nemakščiai town near Raseiniai. Klasika members were left amazed. Truth be said, it is very hard to understand why people dream about such places as Turkey or Greece, while they don’t even realize what beauty is in plain sight just around the corner.
