On a nice weekend evening, a few members of the Antique Car Club “Klasika” went on an outing to visit a member of the Club, Dalius Linkevicius. We had two goals: to congratulate Dalius Linkevicius on his birthday and to look around his Farm Machinery Museum. The first goal was the easier of the two. It started with snacks and some beer. Well, the second goal was a real puzzle. After all, antique car show in Biržai was already just around the corner and one of the planned entertainments was a trip to Dalius Linkevičius Museum. So, we reviewed and assessed everything. After consultation, we decided to show you many things that you will be able to see and experience at the Museum in Sodeliškių manor and farmstead. Of course, we do not show you everything as we want some things remain a surprise.

Antique Car Show In Linkuva

Category:Events,Events 2012

As you already know, Biržai residents are not surprised to see antique cars on the city streets anymore. However, the Antique Car Club “Klasika” always strives to bring innovations to the city life. Those who visited Biržai Castle on the 14th of July were not disappointed. They had a chance to take pictures standing by several antique cars and talk to the members of “Klasika” Club about antique cars and museum artifacts. Newlyweds were honored in particular. They were really pleasantly surprised by the souvenirs, flowers, and attention they received from the “Klasika” Club. In most countries of Western Europe and many states of the US small weekend car shows are very popular and welcomed by museums and community organizations. Even though antique car shows are not new in Biržai, in Lithuania there are still places where such events are a novelty. On July 15 (Sunday) Antique Car Club “Klasika” went to the town of Linkuva (Pakruojis District) where an antique car show and parade were held.

On an early and rainy morning of June 2, 2012, members of the Antique Automobile Club „Klasika”, accompanied by friends and associates from Biržai, set off on a long journey. This time the gray trail led us to Ukmerge, which celebrated 220th anniversary since the city was returned the rights of Magdeburg. Ukmergė is one of the oldest towns in Lithuania. In written sources, the town was first mentioned in 1333, which is the official date of its foundation. In Vartbergė Chronicle it is mentioned that in the year, Master of the Livonian Order „was by Vilkenbergė „(i.e. Ukmergė). At that time he attacked the Ukmergė Castle, which was later repeatedly attacked and devastated by the Teutonic Order. Legends, interwoven with historical facts, mention the old name of Ukmergė – Vilkmergė.

Category:Events,Events 2012,Articles

Often, when seeing an antique car passing by, we stop and turn back to look at it. Some of us marvel at it, some go back into remembrances of the past, others just are pleased to see it. However, it is rarely that people know how much patience and effort, not even speaking about time and money, it is required so that those old and rusty antique cars could be brought back to life. Not everyone understands that some people can talk longest hours sharing their impressions from past shows, parades and antique car festivals. You might think of such people as „fanatics”. Perhaps they are. However, antique cars, especially antique vehicle parades bring joy to everyone.

The Antique Vehicle Club „Klasika” began its season on May 28, 2011. The Club accepted an invitation to take part in a land-rover marathon „4×4 Perimeter” festival which took place in Pačeriaukštė Village (Biržai District). Members of the Club exhibited their vehicles in the sports field of P. Poškus High School. Historic vehicles were admired by a large number of spectators and marathon participants.

Our Club’s next events were shows in Širvintos and Kernavė. Last year, our friends in Širvintos offered us to arrange an exhibit in Kernavė. After a short deliberation, we accepted the invitation. We called our event „With ,Klasika’ – to Kernavė!“
