Antanas Vaičeliūnas’ article about the Klasika Club member Virginijus Kučinskas, printed in the Šiaurės Rytai newspaper on February 2, 2013.

Virginijus Kučinskas

A car is not a luxury item, but means of transport. This statement made by the great Ostap Bender, which later became a winged phrase, was never implemented by the Soviet government during the entire time of its existence.  With great difficulty having saved a bunch of Roubles and having waited patiently in the line for his time to buy a car, an average Soviet citizen used to get a miserable Moskvich or a „Lada“, a car hatched from the Italian Fiat 124 model. A man basically knew that he acquired a joy and a misery (if not for the rest of his life, at least for the next twenty years), and that it would be easier to change his wife than the old tires to the new ones without having acquaintances in the right post. After Lithuania escaped from the Soviet regime, a tsunami of used cars from the West overwhelmed our homeland. After twenty years of independence, a Moskvich or a Zaporozhets that one might occasionally encounter on the road, became quite a unique experience.

Category:Events,Events 2012,Articles

On a nice weekend evening, a few members of the Antique Car Club “Klasika” went on an outing to visit a member of the Club, Dalius Linkevicius. We had two goals: to congratulate Dalius Linkevicius on his birthday and to look around his Farm Machinery Museum. The first goal was the easier of the two. It started with snacks and some beer. Well, the second goal was a real puzzle. After all, antique car show in Biržai was already just around the corner and one of the planned entertainments was a trip to Dalius Linkevičius Museum. Category:Events,Events 2012,Articles

On an early and rainy morning of June 2, 2012, members of the Antique Automobile Club „Klasika“, accompanied by friends and associates from Biržai, set off on a long journey. This time the gray trail led us to Ukmerge, which celebrated 220th anniversary since the city was returned the rights of Magdeburg. Ukmergė is one of the oldest towns in Lithuania. In written sources, the town was first mentioned in 1333, which is the official date of its foundation. In Vartbergė Chronicle it is mentioned that in the year, Master of the Livonian Order „was by Vilkenbergė „(i.e. Ukmergė). At that time he attacked the Ukmergė Castle, which was later repeatedly attacked and devastated by the Teutonic Order. Legends, interwoven with historical facts, mention the old name of Ukmergė – Vilkmergė.
